Mick Burson is an artist originally from Waco, Texas. Growing up in a train yard he developed a sense of non-permanence towards objects and paintings he made. He is currently in the middle of a 31-year-old project where he consistently wanders around while appearing to have a destination. He is currently wandering in Los Angeles.
Shay Mac, aka Pono, is a painter from west Texas. Described as “New Western”, the art of Pono is inspired by myths and legends of the world, often delivered with motifs of the southwest. Pono was raised on cattle ranches in Texas and New Mexico before traveling the country working various jobs. Finally, painting was decided as the work that made the most sense. Used as a pseudonym, Pono is a Hawaiian word picked up from his time farming on the Big Island. It’s not as much a name as it is a reminder of the word’s meaning, the most common being righteousness.
